Global Switch has executed a 10-year corporate power purchase agreement with Drax to supply its United Kingdom data centers with solar energy. The deal was reported alongside Drax's separate attempt to acquire Bluefield Solar for approximately 755 million dollars, signaling the energy company's push to expand its renewable portfolio. Global Switch operates large-scale carrier-neutral data centers across Europe and Asia, and the PPA represents a significant long-term clean energy commitment for its UK footprint. The agreement reflects a broader trend of European data center operators locking in fixed-price renewable contracts as electricity costs and sustainability obligations rise.
