Verda, formerly known as DataCrunch, is a European neocloud company founded in 2020 that operates GPU-focused data centers running on 100 percent renewable energy. The company currently has facilities in Finland and Iceland, with additional sites planned across Europe, the UK, the US, and Asia. It offers cloud compute infrastructure aimed at AI workloads, with plans to add Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 systems and S3-compatible object storage.
Led by Emergence Capital, with participation from MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, ENDUR, 6 Degrees Capital, byFounders, Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd), and angel investors including Ola Tørudbakken and Mark Saroufim.
The round brings Verda's total funding to more than $450 million, signaling sustained investor appetite for European renewable-powered GPU cloud capacity as demand for AI compute outpaces supply. The company's target of 250MW of operational capacity by 2027 represents a meaningful scale-up for a region where domestically controlled AI infrastructure has become a strategic priority. The involvement of hardware maker Supermicro as an investor also points to supply-chain alignment as a competitive lever for emerging neoclouds.
