At its GTC event in Berlin, Nvidia unveiled DSX POD, a prefabricated modular reference design for containerized data centers built around its Vera Rubin AI infrastructure. Partners including Dell Technologies, HPE, Schneider Electric, and Vertiv would use it as a standardized blueprint. Nvidia said the factory-built modules can cut deployment from roughly six months to as little as 14 days. CEO Jensen Huang said a gigawatt-scale data center costs $50 billion and that a three-month delay equals $10 billion in lost revenue. Greenpeace protesters interrupted the keynote shortly before he detailed the design.
If the 14-day claim holds, operators could bring expensive AI capacity online far sooner, shifting more construction work into the supply chain. Nvidia says the design uses dry coolers instead of evaporative cooling, and an executive said units can go into existing industrial buildings and brownfield sites. Faster deployment could still intensify opposition in communities already uneasy about the pace of data center projects.
The snippet names Nvidia, a new DSX POD product, and a Greenpeace protest, which makes it both an AI infrastructure announcement and an opposition story. It ranked first as the biggest-name hardware announcement in today's feed.
